KidSport Week 2019 has been declared by the Province of British Columbia and runs from September 7th until September 13th this year.

With events underway across the province in many of the 41 KidSport community chapters, the profile of KidSport has never been greater!

In the first day of KidSport Week, nearly $300,000 was raised at three events which will allow us to get over 700 kids into a season of sport!

Things kicked off on Saturday September 7th with the 10th annual Ritchie Bros Corporate Kids Challenge, hosted by our incredible friends at Ritchie Bros and involving 20 corporate teams, 20 Team KidSport ambassadors and a host of volunteers, this unique and amazing event raised in excess of $160,000. Over it’s 10 years, the total generated by this corporate challenge is in excess of $1.5 million!

The very same day, the good people at Innovative Fitness hosted their epic Adventure Challenge in Port Moody and raised over $120,000 for KidSport chapters in Victoria, Vancouver, Tri-Cities, Langley, Surrey, North Shore, Abbotsford and Kelowna. This is the second year that Innovative Fitness has chosen KidSport as their charity of choice for this fantastic endeavour and we are extremely grateful.

As if two monster events weren’t enough for the opening day of KidSport Week, KidSport Tri-Cities hosted their bi-annual Used Equipment Sale and raised a record $36,000 for their chapter. Congrats to the entire KidSport Tri-Cities team and especially to volunteer extraordinaire Chris Wilson for his leadership and vision.

A big announcement from our friends at KidSport Prince George also made news to help kick off KidSport Week, as they partnered with the Prince George Cougars to announce the Habit Hack Challenge. With a goal of $30,000, this campaign is asking residents to give up a latte a month and donate $5 a month for a year to KidSport Prince George. A very clever initiative and one which we think has some legs for other chapters potentially.

Golf tournaments also played a role in helping get KidSport Week rolling. KidSport Mission are pleased to announce that their tournament raised $25,000 for their chapter and KidSport Langley also hosted a golf tourney that generated $5,200. Thankfully the summer weather held out for both events and golfers enjoyed a great round under mostly sunny skies.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated/volunteered/donated to these events. You have made a significant difference in the lives of hundreds of BC kids and we are so grateful for your support.
