The official launch of KidSport Month in Saskatchewan took place on May 1 at Westmount Community School in Saskatoon. The launch featured Saskatchewan athletes: Shomari Williams, Craig McCallum, Tanner Prentice, Julie Kozun, Kohl Bauml, Colby Harmsworth, Lance Bashutsky, and Jacob Solie. As well, RBC employees joined us as volunteers.

The provincial government has officially proclaimed the month of May as KidSport Month in Saskatchewan. During May, funds and awareness will be raised for KidSport by local KidSport committees throughout the province. Individuals interested can get involved by donating, volunteering, or supporting a local fundraising event.  KidSport Month is proudly presented by Great West Life, London Life and Canada Life. Each year, corporate partners and schools also partake in KidSport Month, which help assist children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in their favorite sports so that all kids can play.

There are currently hundreds of volunteers across 40 communities in the province that administer KidSport in their own community to help kids get off the sidelines and in the game. Activities during this year’s KidSport Month include:

  • Kompany for Kids—businesses that allow employees to dress casual or wear favourite sports  attire at work if they make a donation to KidSport
  • The KidSport Saskatoon Fun and Fitness Corporate Challenge will be held on May 5th at the SaskTel Soccer Centre, KidSport Regina Fun and Fitness Corporate Challenge, proudly sponsored by Great West Life, London Life, and Canada Life will be held on May 12th at the University of Regina and the KidSport Prince Albert Fun and Fitness Corporate Challenge will be held May 26th at Alfred Jenkins Field House.
