Thanks to the efforts of 28 teams, this year’s KidSport Regina Fun and Fitness Corporate Challenge raised $133,579.14. This brings the total funds raised to more than $1.5 million since the annual fundraising event began 21 years ago, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going back to help Saskatchewan children and youth.
The event, proudly presented by Great West Life, London Life and Canada life, was held on Saturday, May 27, at the University of Regina. The challenge featured eight events: Planes, Train and Automobiles; Mind Over Matter; Hungry Hungry Hippo’s; Extreme Dodgeball; Picture Scavenger Hunt; Shot in the Dark Volleyball; Fantasy Football/Bubble Soccer; and Axe Throwing/University Daze.
“KidSport would like to thank all of the participants, volunteers, media partners and sponsors – in particular our presenting sponsor Great West Life, London Life and Canada Life,” said Dorothy Josephson, Chair of KidSport Saskatchewan. “You are all helping Saskatchewan kids get off the sidelines and into the game.”
The 6th Annual KidSport Saskatoon Fun and Fitness Corporate Challenge was held on May 6th at the SaskTel Soccer Centre and raised more than $75,000 for KidSport Saskatoon. The challenge included six challenging events: Bubble Ball Soccer, Shot in the Dark Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, Back Yard Relay, Tipsy Kickball, Giant Twister and Hungry Hungry Hippo’s. Team Laycock, along with their sponsor Crescent Point Energy, have partnered for the fourth season now in supporting KidSport and together they donated 30% of the team’s winnings on the World Curling Tour each season. They presented a cheque in the amount of $7,000 at the KidSport Saskatoon Fun & Fitness Corporate Challenge Committee. The Laycock foursome has raised over $67,000 for KidSport.
KidSport is a registered children’s charity that provides grants worth up to $750 to help children and youth from families facing financial obstacles participate in sport, so ALL Kids Can Play.
