KidSport Saskatchewan teamed up with Local KidSport Chapters across the province to raise $237,000 during KidSport Month in May.

To raise the funds, the 40 local chapters across the province hosted a variety of fundraising events and activities including three Fun & Fitness Corporate Challenges, barbecues, hot dog sales, steak nights, basketball and golf tournaments, as well as unique fundraisers to the communities.

“Thank you Saskatchewan for helping us raise money to ensure all kids can participate in sport in our province,” said Jerry Shoemaker, Provincial KidSport Committee Chair. “I am so proud of our Local KidSport Chapters and the volunteers who run each program in communities across the province. KidSport is so important for kids in Saskatchewan to allow lessons in life. Together, we are helping to create tomorrow’s community leaders.”

KidSport Month was declared in the province of Saskatchewan on May 1 by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Recreation. Promotion, awareness and fundraising for the program are done through an ongoing basis throughout the year, but efforts are heightened during KidSport Month. KidSport Month is proudly presented by Canada Life.
