Noah Dobson, 19, from Summerside, PEI has been announced as one of the 23 players named to the New York Islanders opening night roster. Dobson is expected to make his NHL debut October 4th versus the Washington Capitals.
The former 12th overall pick is coming off back to back QMJHL and Memorial Cup championships and has impressed throughout training camp. The Islanders faced a difficult challenge with Dobson: keep him in the NHL or send him back to junior. CHL players are not allowed to play in the AHL until their overage season, which made the decision on his future more difficult to predict.
Dobson, however, is confident about sticking with the Islanders saying "I feel like I belong at this level and I’m able to play at this level. Just like any other young guy, there’s going to be a learning curve. I think I’m smart enough out there that I’ll be able to pick up things.”
Noah has been a tremendous ambassador for the KidSport PEI program and we wish him nothing but the best this upcoming season! We'll be cheering for you!
