Feb. 17, 2015 - The 2015 Heritage Week launch event in Toronto kicked off Heritage Week across the province, which runs from February 16th to 22nd, 2015. This year's theme for the event was a celebration of Ontario’s Sports Heritage, complimenting Ontario hosting the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games and the Year of Sport in Canada. Both the launch event and Heritage Week are delivered by the Ontario Heritage Trust, a Provincial agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, whose mandate is to preserve, protect and promote Ontario’s history.
In partnership with KidSport Ontario, a program of Sport Alliance Ontario, the event engaged over 370 kids from local schools in a wide variety of interactive sport and physical activity stations. Each sport station was led by passionate coaches, clinicians and instructors from a variety of provincial sport organizations and sport clubs.
KidSport would like to recognize the contributions of our event partners: Amesbury/Bert Robinson Minor Hockey League, Boxing Ontario, Coaches Association of Ontario, Motivate Canada's Gen7 program, Metro Toronto Skating Academy, Ontario Basketball Association, Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association, Parasport Ontario, and TO2015.
