The Winnipeg Foundation's Fast Pitch is a three month coaching program which culminated in an event at The Metropolitan last night. Presenting Dragon's Den style pitches, ten charitable organizations competed for grants for their causes.

Fast Pitch is part of an interational movement that helps organizations create high energy cases for support presented in three minutes or less. Judging the pitches were Ace Burpee, Obby Khan, and Lisa Meeches. There was also a public choice award decided by text voting from the audience.

Representing KidSport Winnpeg was our chair Matt Erhard, who had successfully navigated the earlier rounds of the competition. Twenty-seven organizations had entered, and had been whittled down to the final ten.

"Being involved in the inaugural Fast Pitch Winnipeg event was an incredible experience. It truly was one of the best public speaking development opportunities I have ever been part of." said Matt afterwards. "Representing KidSport Winnipeg and with the help of my two coaches, Megan Kriegler and Stuart Burns, I was able to develop and refine an impactful pitch which was incredibly valuable."

Matt's thought-provoking presentation was judged to come in third, which got KidSport Winnipeg a grant of $2,500. More importantly, says Matt, "It allowed us to increase awareness of what we do and to win funding from The Winnipeg Foundation that will have an immediate impact on kids participating in sport in Winnipeg."

Well done Matt!
