KidSport Winnipeg is very pleased to announce that $20,000 was raised from the 3 rd Annual Desiree Scott Soccer Camp presented by Sexton Group Ltd. The soccer camp was held on Saturday October 29 th and Sunday October 30, 2016 at the Axworthy Health & RecPlex and had 135 kids between the ages of 5-18 in attendance. A third of the girls in attendance were sponsored by members of the local community to attend and were either funded by KidSport or from IRCOM (Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba).
"It's crazy that we are already into the third annual camp, time certainly flies when you’re having fun!” said Scott, KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador. “This is an event I look forward to putting on every year and I hope the girls really enjoyed themselves. There have been a lot of familiar faces coming back each year, which is awesome; as well as a number of new faces which means word is spreading about the camp and with more kids in attendance we can raise more funds for KidSport. It is truly an honor to come back to Winnipeg, get hands on with kids who share a love for sport, and to be able to give back to the community. It really is a win- win for everyone. I can't wait for year !"
All proceeds from the soccer camp will go towards paying the registration fees for kids in Winnipeg so that they will be able to participate in sports.
“Desiree’s commitment to developing the players of tomorrow is equal to her commitment to excellence on the pitch," said Mike Witoski, Chair of KidSport Winnipeg. “Watching this two-time Olympian medalist work with the young girls and instill in them a desire to pursue their dreams is a true pleasure. We look forward to working with Desiree in her 4 th camp later this year, allowing future stars to get off the sidelines and into the game.”
