KidSport Winnipeg is very pleased to announce that $135,000 was raised from the 2016 Mark Scheifele Golf Classic presented by 24-7 Intouch and 2 nd Annual Hockey Camp presented by FXR held June 25-27, 2016.

The sold-out two-day hockey camp was held at the MTS Iceplex and hosted 250 kids between the ages of 5-12. Along with Scheifele, Chet Pickard and Winnipeg Jets Michael Hutchinson, Mark Stuart, Nic Petan, Josh Morrissey, JC Lipon and Julian Melchiori assisted the Jets Hockey Development Team on ice.

“It means so much to see all the kids, golfers and sponsors come together to support KidSport Winnipeg and achieve such a tremendous result," said Scheifele, KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador. “All the guys who came out and helped over the weekend had a great time working with the kids; I’d like to thank them and all the sponsors and supporters who have helped ensure more kids in Winnipeg will get the chance to play sports.”

The golf classic featured players from the hockey camp and the newest member of the Winnipeg Jets - Patrik Laine. Other NHL players in the tournament included Brendan Gallagher, Calvin Pickard, Brendan Leipsic and Chris Driedger. Olympic medalists Dara Howell, Jill Officer, Reid Carruthers, Janine Stephens and professional race car drivers David Richert and Amber Balcaen joined other professional athletes, local celebrities and business leaders to participate in the sell-out tournament.

All proceeds from both events will go towards paying the registration fees for kids in Winnipeg so that they will be able to participate in sports.

“We had a great weekend working with Mark and all the other players and athletes,” said Matt Erhard, Chair of KidSport Winnipeg. “The generous support we received this year from all those participating and sponsoring the events has allowed us to exceed our fundraising goals. The impact this will have on kids in our community is significant and we would like to extend our gratitude to Mark, 24-7 Intouch, FXR and all those who helped make the camp & tournament such a great success.”
