Tom Mayenknecht joins Team KidSport after being a friend of the cause since even before he moved to Vancouver in 1995. The sport business commentator is the founder and host of The Sport Market™ on TEAM 1040 and TSN Radio. Doubling as a marketing communications executive who has specialized in professional and Olympic sport for much of his career, Mayenknecht is a principal in Emblematica Brand Builders. Sport philanthropy is important to him in both roles — he advocates KidSport and other leading charities as a radio commentator and he helps market such causes as part of his work with Emblematica. He played leadership roles in the startups of the Toronto Raptors and the relocated Vancouver Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association, Rogers Arena (then General Motors Place) and then TEAM 1040 all-sports radio station. He is a former Vice-President of Canucks (Orca Bay) Sports & Entertainment and served as a senior executive with Tennis Canada from 1985-1994. He served as Governor of the old Vancouver Ravens of the National Lacrosse League and was named the NLL's Executive of the Year in 2002. Other national and international awards include the Doug Gilbert Media Medallion in 1983. He holds a Master of Arts in political science and public policy from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto.
