Darcy is a three-time Olympian in rowing who, after two fourth place finishes at Athens 2004 (women's pair) and Beijing 2008 (women's eight), finally reached the podium as a member of the women’s eight that won silver at London 2012. In 2006 Marquardt won world championship gold in the pairs event with stroke Jane Rumball. She won back-to-back world championship silvers with the women’s eights in 2010 and 2011 heading towards London 2012 and also has two more world championship medals from 2002 (silver in fours) and 2003 (bronze in eights).
Darcy met her husband Richard (2x Olympic swimmer) in Beijing in 2008 and they are now a family of five (son, Kirin born in January 2015 and son/daughter twins, Jax and Rosie, born in February 2017. She is a past board member of the Rowing BC Board of Directors and a much sought after public speaker.
