Vancouver BC April 25, 2018 - BC Soccer is pleased to announce that for the Fourth consecutive year, they have made a $10,000 contribution to KidSport to get more kids off the sidelines and into the beautiful game.
“We are really happy to be able to offer this donation to KidSport and we also want to thank them for all of the work they do, to get, and keep, kids playing sports,” said Jason Elligott BC Soccer Executive Director. “2018 is KidSport’s 25th year helping kids and families play sports and we hope that this donation will allow them to help even more families moving forward.”
Soccer is the number one funded sport in terms of KidSport BC grants and in 2017 there were over 2,200 young soccer players who received just over $528,000 in grants to help them stay active and play a season of soccer with their friends and teammates. BC Soccer is incredibly humbled by all of the work that KidSport does and is proud to be able to offer this donation to help KidSport continue to get kids playing sports!
“This generous donation from BC Soccer sets the bar for other provincial and national sport organizations to help us ensure that no child is left on the sidelines. Thanks to their generous support over the past four years over 160 kids had the opportunity to experience the joys of a season of soccer”, according to KidSport BC Director Pete Quevillon.
KidSport is the charitable arm of Sport BC and with 41 community chapters in BC, they assisted 7330 kids with $1.95 million in grants in 2017. KidSport celebrates 25 years of getting kids off the sidelines in 2018. KidSport was created by Sport BC and is now operational in 11 provinces and territories and in over 180 community chapters nation wide. Through a simple application process, families who could not otherwise afford the costs of sport registration fees can receive support to get their child into the game.
