During the Hockey Day in Canada held in Ladner a couple weeks ago, Delta Cable willingly donated their time to make popcorn for the spectators and participants.  When asked where they would like to donate the money they picked KidSport Delta.  “Delta Cable is dedicated to playing an active role in supporting charitable and non-profit organizations and activities that enrich the families and communities in which we operate.”  Tannis Goodfellow, Delta Cable’s Sales and Marketing Manager. “We were very excited to be part of Hockey Day in Delta and proud to help raise $450 for KidSport Delta with our Popcorn drive.”

KidSport provides grants to financially disadvantaged children to cover the costs of sport registration fees. KidSport removes the financial barriers that prevent some children from playing sport meeting our mission....so All Kids Can Play!  KidSport Delta relies on donations like that of Delta Cable so we can see that no child in Delta is left out.

Each year KidSport Delta helps approximately 80 children who otherwise would be unable to participate in sport granting over $20,000 annually.  Each participant is eligible to apply for up to $300 per fiscal year.

Did you know that only 6% of the children in Canada are getting the recommended 90 minutes of activity per day?  This is a staggering figure.  Children today are not playing freely as much as in the past.  Sport Canada’s Healthy Report card states that ‘if you are not involved in sport you are not active”.  This makes the involvement in sport activities very important and KidSport is here to help.

Thank you Delta Cable for choosing to donate to KidSport Delta.
