The KidSport Burnaby chapter is a group of dedicated volunteers who meet regularly and manage the grant funding, accounting, fundraising, and social media for Burnaby.

We are looking to build our chapter and have added a few new opportunities.

Volunteer Coordinator

Core responsibilities include the following:

  • Recruit for volunteers for events, and for the chapter.  Post, review applications, interview via phone.
  • Create an orientation for new volunteers – information, possibly facilitate sessions if appropriate.
  • Assign and arrange for volunteers to go to events as needed

Event and Fundraising Volunteers

We have opportunities for volunteers who prefer to go to events only (we do require attending one KidSport meeting for training and orientation), and we have opportunities to join the chapter to help plan events, reach out to the community, and increase our fundraising efforts.

Core responsibilities include the following:

  • Attend events to help spread the word about KidSport Burnaby:  On a regular basis we are invited to attend events in the community, or events arranged by KidSport BC.  Duties vary depending on the type of event, but can include managing a table or booth, providing information to the public about KidSport, managing an activation game (ie Giant Jenga) at the booth, handing out giveaways to kids, selling 50/50 tickets.
  • Plan fundraising and event initiatives:  Attend chapter meetings, research and help plan for events (note, currently we haven’t run any events ourselves but look to join events in our communities), and reach out to the community.

The chapter currently meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm, in Burnaby (close to Fortius) for one hour:

Please note we are looking at changing this schedule, ie meeting bi-monthly, and/or online so if this doesn’t fit your schedule, but you are still interested please contact us!

If you are interested please complete this form online and we will be in touch.
