Cavalry FC Teams Up with KidSport Calgary

Calgary, AB (April 25, 2019) – Calgary’s newest professional sports team Cavalry FC is teaming up with KidSport Calgary & Area to help make it So ALL Kids Can Play the great sport of soccer. This partnership will be highlighted throughout the Cavalry season and across the KidSport calendar as we work together to build awareness, profile and raise funds to support the amazing work KidSport is doing to break down barriers for kids accessing soccer, as well as their significant impact on the minor soccer system in our community.

Soccer is the sport that sees the largest demand for KidSport assistance in our community. In 2018 KidSport Calgary & Area provided soccer registration fee assistance to 1,672 local kids. This was coupled with an investment of over $430,000 that went directly into local minor soccer clubs to support these kids and their fees. In the last 5 years this impact has included support of more than 7,600 local kids with access to community soccer, and an amazing $1.84 million dollars being invested back into minor soccer. This has all been done through local fundraising, donations, events and community partnerships. Cavalry FC is proud to be teaming up with KidSport to raise profile, awareness and to build on this outstanding impact in the local soccer community and support the enjoyment of soccer at every level in Calgary.

President & COO Ian Allison is enthusiastic about the partnership, “KidSport plays a fundamental role to ensure that all children have access to participate in sport. Through Spruce Meadows we have a great partnership with KidSport and we are excited to extend this initiative through Cavalry FC and commit to this worthwhile mission and the enrichment it provides to the lives of thousands of Calgary area families. Cavalry FC looks forward to our ongoing involvement in the community, through programs like KidSport.”

“We are excited to see the Cavalry FC hit the field this May here in Calgary.” Says Kevin Webster, Executive Director, KidSport Calgary & Area “We are even more excited to be teaming up with the Cavalry FC, their players, partners and fans to build on the amazing impact KidSport has had on the sport of soccer in our community. We look forward to working with this great organization to grow the game, develop new fans, players and leaders through soccer participation. Today’s announcement is a significant one for KidSport and the families who rely on us so their kids can play. Together we will build on our 24 year history of bringing sport to life for local kids who need us most.”
Cavalry FC and KidSport Calgary & Area will kick off this partnership at the Cavalry FC Fan Fest on Saturday, April 27 at Spruce Meadows, the official home of the Cavalry FC. More information around the partnership and how fans and the community can get involved in growing this partnership and impact on our soccer community will be shared throughout our lead up to the inaugural season here in Calgary.
