Calgary Minor Basketball Association teaming up with KidSport Calgary & Area So ALL Kids Can Play!

Calgary, AB, March 18th, 2019 - For Immediate Release

The Calgary Minor Basketball Association (CMBA) wants to further their role in the community by teaming up with KidSport Calgary & Area, a local charity who is giving kids from low income families the chance to play. This partnership will highlight the work KidSport is doing to support minor sport in our community while also showcasing the amazing impact they are having directly on basketball and our clubs.

In 2018 KidSport Calgary & Area assisted 418 local kids with basketball registration fees, over the last 5 years they have provided support to 1533 kids that are participating in clubs within the CMBA family.  This support required an investment of $415,000 dollars that went directly back into local basketball clubs. 100% of this was raised right here in Calgary & Area through local donations, events and sponsors.

This partnership will see CMBA and their affiliates recognize KidSport’s efforts and help us raise profile for our events and programs, while also helping raise additional dollars to keep up with the significant increase in demand KidSport has seen from Calgary & Area kids who need their support so they can get on the court, meet new teammates, learn from great coaches and role models, build confidence, learn respect and hard work and chase their sporting dreams.

“Thank you to the CMBA board for their leadership in wanting to further this partnership” Commented Kevin Webster, Executive Director with KidSport Calgary & Area. “It is partnerships like this, with leaders in our sport community that are going to help ensure KidSport can keep up with demand and continue so support 100% of the qualified kids that reach out to us for assistance each year.  Basketball is one of our fastest growing sports in terms of need and demand, so is great to get this alliance in place so we can work together to support the kids who need us most.  Special thanks to local clubs CalWest Basketball and Excel Basketball who helped pave the way for this partnership with their years of support of KidSport in our community.”

Highlights of the partnership will see the two organizations working together to build a foundation that supports the growth of the CMBA and the growth in demand for KidSport from CMBA clubs and programs.  Key elements will include cross promotion on websites and social platforms, donation links on club registration pages, story telling from clubs and teams on what KidSport means to them, promotion of KidSport events, prioritizing KidSport as a charity of choice partner for local tournaments and championships that have a charitable component, educating boards, volunteers, coaches and parents on the role KidSport and CMBA have in our community.
