Papa John’s and KidSport Alberta have teamed up once again So ALL Kids Can Play!

CALGARY, ALBERTA – [6 August, 2019] – The latest edition of the Papa John’s Canada Pizza Power Play campaign was a resounding success, raising $37,300 for kids across Alberta. This is in addition to $49,371 raised between September and December 2018, and corporate donations of $90,000, for a cumulative total donation of $176,000. Hundreds of kids in Alberta will experience the lifelong benefits of organized sport as a result of this donation.

Over the months of April, May, and June 2019, every online order submitted to a Papa John’s Canada franchise using the promo code “KIDSPORT” received a 30% discount, with 10% of the order’s value being automatically donated to the nearest local KidSport chapter. In this way, Papa John’s commitment to the communities in which it operates and KidSport’s grassroots programming was demonstrated, as every dollar raised in a community stayed in that community, to help get local kids off the sidelines and into the game. 

KidSport Alberta Executive Director Greg Ingalls said, “A huge thank you needs to go out to each and every Papa John’s franchise owner and their staff for their participation in this campaign. Their support of KidSport during the latest edition of Pizza Power Play has enabled 150 kids across Alberta to play a season of sport. Sport is such a powerful tool for social change; for many KidSport Kids, the opportunity to be a part of a team is a life-changing one. Papa John’s franchisee’s commitment to their local communities and the children living there is clearly evident by their continuing partnership with us in this campaign.”

The Pizza Power Play promotion will return in the fall, kicking off on September 1st and wrapping up on December 29th.

KidSport is a national non-profit organization that gets kids off the sidelines by removing the financial barriers that prevent youth from participating in organized sport. KidSport Alberta comprises 37 locally organized community chapters and the KidSport Alberta Provincial Fund, which provides support for families in communities that do not have a local chapter. In 2018 local KidSport chapters and the KidSport Alberta Provincial Fund assisted 13,864 kids from qualified families into sport by paying $3.25 million in sport registration fees.
