Position Posting
We want to expand the perspectives and knowledge available when the Board of Directors is making strategic decisions. Do you want to add your perspective and talents to help support Alberta’s vulnerable youth and under-represented populations? The Board of Directors provides leadership and direction to KidSport, and oversees its management and performance. KidSport is looking for individuals who has expertise in fundraising, sponsorships and relationship development and looking to use these skills to help KidSport.

KidSport’s Mission Statement
We believe no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children and their low-income families in order to remove financial barriers prevent them from playing organized sport.

In Alberta
KidSport has been assisting over 10,000 vulnerable kids into each year giving them opportunities they would not be able to experience without our help. KidSport funds every community across Alberta. Either through the provincial fund or from 38 volunteer run community chapters. These chapters raise funds in their community, for their community but due to growth, rural communities need support from larger funders.

Committee Purpose
KidSport has a need to raise funds for the core purpose – registration fees for kids and our operations of the program for all Albertan Communities. The development of the Fund Development Committee is to enhance and execute a comprehensive fund development plan with a mix of strategies including sponsorships, donations and planned giving. Working with the authority of the Board to support and provide direction to the Partnership Development Manager, the committee is to carry out its function and due diligence related to assuring the fiscal health of KidSport in Alberta.

Time Commitment
This committee meets 7 times per year via a conference call (30 to 60 minutes/call) and with a minimum of two face-to-face meetings per year. It is intended this committee have a continuous flow of action. (One date of a face-to-face meeting is the KidSport Volunteer Recognition and Annual General Meeting, May 5th & 6th).

Key Responsibilities
Develop the case for philanthropic support.
Update the reusable and malleable sales deck
Examine each community investment pillar KidSport can impact and develop a sales sheet for each.
Devise and recommend fund development policies and practices to the Partnership Development Manager and Board of Directors.
Establish sub-committees as needed to carry out specific fund development activities.
Develop a recognition package in line with the National strategy.

We are currently looking to fill 14 committee positions with qualified candidates from around Alberta. All successful candidates will have expertise and/or experience with fundraising strategies. The applicant could be from any background, if they are prepared to work on the board and its committees to accomplish KidSport’s goals.
